Can a pure value-based healthcare model ever be realized in this generation?


I first learned about Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC) during my MBA at UTM. The idea sounded simple — pay doctors and hospitals for keeping people healthy, not just for treating them. But in practice, that’s one of the hardest shifts any health system can make.


Singapore’s Healthier SG program is a real-world example of this transformation. Since 2023, the Ministry of Health has started moving its three public healthcare clusters — SingHealth, NHG, and NUHS — from the traditional fee-for-service approach to a capitation model.
